Topology Check

This is the entry point for quality control on parcel data: it builds the topology, adds the rules, and runs validation in one step, rather than requiring the multi-stage setup the standard geodatabase workflow demands.

• All inputs must be polygon feature classes. The Input Feature parameter filters the layer list to polygons.
• A geodatabase topology can only contain feature classes that live in the same feature dataset. If the inputs are spread across different feature datasets or sit at the root of a geodatabase, the tool cannot build the topology. Move them into a common feature dataset first — Copy Parcel To GDB is a convenient way to do that.
• Shapefiles cannot participate in a topology. Inputs must be geodatabase feature classes.
• Output Topology is created inside the feature dataset that holds the inputs.
• After the run, open the topology's error inspector in ArcGIS Pro to review, filter, and mark exceptions. The tool creates and validates the topology; triaging individual errors remains a manual review step.
• For a check that does not create a persistent topology, use Detect Overlap/Gap or Parcel Overlap Check instead.

1. Confirm every feature class to be checked lives in the same feature dataset of a file geodatabase.
2. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Geoprocessing group, open the Topology gallery and click Topology Check.
3. Set Output Topology to the topology name to create.
4. In Input Feature, select the polygon feature classes to validate.
5. Click Run.
6. In the Catalog pane, open the new topology and use the error inspector to review the errors found.

Requires an active KGA Toolbox license. The tool validates the license before running.
