Filter Selection

This tool has no parameters. It acts on the current map selection.
ការប្រើប្រាស់
- This is a toggle. The first click builds a definition query from the selection; the second click removes it.
- Select the features you want to isolate before clicking. The tool reads the current selection and writes it into the layer's definition query.
- The result is a definition query, not a selection. That distinction matters: Because a definition query hides the other features from everything — geoprocessing tools, attribute tables, exports, and the layout — it is the right way to work on a subset, and also an easy thing to forget you have applied.
| Selection | Definition query | |
|---|---|---|
| Survives clicking elsewhere | No | Yes |
| Other tools see only these features | No | Yes |
| Shown in layer properties | No | Yes |
| Affects printing and export | No | Yes |
- A layer with a definition query applied shows only part of its data. If a later tool reports a suspiciously low feature count, check whether a filter is still in place — clicking this button again clears it.
- The query replaces any definition query already on the layer. Note the existing query before using the tool if the layer already had one you need to keep.
របៀបប្រើ
- Select the features you want to isolate, using any selection tool.
- On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Data Management group, open the Feature menu, point to Query Feature, and click Filter Selection.
- The layer now displays only the selected features.
- Do the work that needs the subset.
- Click Filter Selection again to clear the query and restore the full display.
