Centre points are used for placing parcel labels, joining polygon attributes to a point-based dataset, and producing a coordinate listing of parcel centroids.

  • The point is placed at the polygon's centroid. For a concave or multipart polygon the centroid can fall outside the polygon's own boundary; inspect the result if the parcel shapes are irregular.
  • Check Drop unrelated fields except ID field? to produce a minimal point layer carrying only the field named in Choose ID Field. Leave it unchecked to inherit every polygon attribute.
  • Calculate XY or LatLon adds coordinate fields to the output point:
    • For a projected input, X/Y fields are populated in the layer's own projected units.
    • For a geographic input, latitude and longitude fields are populated in decimal degrees.
  • Export Coordinate as Table? writes the same coordinate values to a standalone table, which is the convenient form for handing coordinates to a spreadsheet or a report. Set Specify Output Table to control where it lands.
  • This tool produces one point per polygon. To extract every boundary vertex instead, use Polygon To Boundary Point.

Adds and populates coordinate fields on the output point.

  • Checked — Coordinate fields are added; projected inputs get X/Y, geographic inputs get latitude/longitude.
  • Unchecked (default) — No coordinate fields are added.
Export Coordinate as Table?ជម្រើសBoolean

Writes the calculated coordinates to a standalone table in addition to the point feature class.

  • Checked — Specify Output Table is enabled.
  • Unchecked (default) — No table is written.
Specify Output Tableជម្រើសTable

The standalone table that receives the coordinate values. Required when Export Coordinate as Table? is checked.

  1. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Data Creation group, open the Conversion Tool gallery and click Polygon To Central Point.
  2. Set Input Feature to the polygon layer.
  3. For a label-ready point layer, check Drop unrelated fields except ID field? and set Choose ID Field to the parcel number field.
  4. Set Output Point Feature Class.
  5. To record coordinates, check Calculate XY or LatLon. To also receive them as a table, check Export Coordinate as Table? and set Specify Output Table.
  6. Click Run.
