Open Layer Package

• The package is extracted to a real folder, never to a temporary one. The layers read their data from the extracted files, so a temporary folder would leave broken layers after the next restart. If you leave Extract to empty, the package goes to a KGA Packages\<package name> folder beside the project file, or in Documents if the project has not been saved.
• If the extraction folder already has files in it (for example, from an earlier open of the same package, whose data may be locked by the map), a new folder with a _2, _3, … suffix is used instead of overwriting it.
• The layers are added to a new group layer at the top of the Contents pane. The group is named after the package unless you enter a name. Groups recorded in the package are rebuilt inside it.
• Styling:

• What translates from QGIS: single symbol, categorized and graduated renderers; simple fills (including hatch styles), simple lines (including dash styles), simple markers; SVG and raster image markers, using the SVG files packaged with the layer (QGIS SVG color parameters are filled in with the symbol's colors); the first label settings (a field or a simple || concatenation), with font, size, color and bold/italic; layer opacity; scale-based visibility. Sizes are converted from QGIS units (millimeters, pixels, inches) to points. Rule-based renderers use the first rule's symbol, and point-cluster/displacement renderers use the renderer they wrap. Font markers are drawn as circles. The report lists every simplification.
• QGIS raster styles have no ArcGIS Pro equivalent, so rasters from QGIS packages open with Pro's default stretch. Only their opacity is kept.
• Entries in the archive that would be written outside the extraction folder are refused. Packages written by a newer version of the format are refused with a message asking you to update.

1. Open the map you want to add the layers to.
2. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Data Creation group, open the Conversion Tool gallery and click Open Layer Package.
3. Click Browse... and choose the .kgalp file.
4. Optionally choose an extraction folder and a group name.
5. Click Open. The report states how many layers were added, where the data was extracted, and any notes from the package or about styling that was simplified.

Requires an active KGA Toolbox license. The tool validates the license before running.
