Generate Boundary Line

  • Select the input polygon layer in the Contents pane before clicking. The button reads the Contents-pane selection and opens the dialog on that layer.
  • All five Generate tools share one dialog; each opens it with a different title and a different set of options enabled:
ToolProducesExtra options shown
Generate Boundary PointPoints at the polygon verticesPoint options
Generate Boundary LineBoundary linesLine options, including split at vertices
Generate Boundary Point and LineBoth, in one runPoint and line options
Generate Polygon Central PointOne point per polygon centroidPoint options
Generate Line VerticesPoints at the vertices of a line layerLine-vertex options
  • Anchor field (feature ID to carry over) is the field copied onto every generated feature, linking each output back to its parent. Set it — without it the outputs cannot be related to the source features, which is usually the whole point of generating them.
  • Features to process chooses between Process all features and Process selected features only. The selected-features option is the way to generate outputs for one parcel without regenerating the whole layer.
  • Remove duplicate point geometry deduplicates coincident points. A polygon's closing vertex repeats its start vertex, and adjacent features share corners, so without this option each physical corner appears more than once. Leave it on unless you deliberately need one point per feature per corner.
  • Output storage location offers Store output in default project geodatabase or Choose specific output location, with Browse... for the latter.
  • Line options are shown for this tool, including Split lines at vertices. The choice determines what a single output feature represents: Split output is also the input shape expected by segment-level labelling and by Bearing Distance Calc.
    • Not split — one line per polygon boundary, which suits boundary symbology.
    • Split at vertices — one line per boundary segment, which is what you need if each segment must carry its own bearing, distance, or label.

Parameters for Generate Boundary Line
ផ្ទាំងគ្រប់គ្រងការពិពណ៌នា
Input polygon layer

The source layer, taken from the Contents-pane selection.

Process all features

Generates output for every feature in the layer.

Process selected features only

Generates output only for the features currently selected in the map.

Anchor field

The identifier field copied onto every generated feature, linking it back to its parent.

Line options

Options governing the generated lines, including Split lines at vertices.

Remove duplicate point geometry

Deduplicates coincident points, so a shared corner yields one point.

Store output in default project geodatabase

Writes the output to the project's default geodatabase.

Choose specific output location

Writes the output to a location you browse to.

OK

Generates the output.

របៀបប្រើ

  1. In the Contents pane, select the polygon layer.
  2. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Data Creation group, open the Quick Template menu and click Generate Boundary Line.
  3. Confirm the layer shown in Input polygon layer.
  4. Choose Process all features, or select features on the map first and choose Process selected features only.
  5. Set Anchor field to the identifier that should travel with each generated feature.
  6. Under Line options, decide whether to Split lines at vertices — split if each segment needs its own attributes, unsplit for boundary symbology.
  7. Leave Remove duplicate point geometry checked.
  8. Choose the Output storage location.
  9. Click OK.
